Many months have passed since my last Here & There post. So much has changed around here! To try and convey all of the many steps that we have been attempting to uncover, learn and discover over the past year would be silly. I am not a great dancer. I gave up on my ballerina dreams early on in life. Instead of leading you down the complicated path…I might just show you a few pictures. Are you ready?
Here and There
The stirring of the monitor caught my attention as I glanced at the clock. NQGBebe was up from his nap…after only 30 minutes. I paused for a moment – I did not understand this sudden move in the game of babyhood. Instead, I shifted. A change in lesson plan. I stopped what I was doing (working on this post for the thousandth time?!), pushed aside my list of things to do and bounded upstairs to greet a smiling NQGBebe.
Oh, how my dish drying rack has changed….wine glasses have been replaced by bibs and bottle things. I used to happily spend long minutes thinking on a new recipe. I used to wonder what next recipe to challenge myself would be. The tides have shifted.
Now, I find myself clinging to the minutes as they pass by as this little boy continues to grow and grow.
It has finally happened. I feel a little disoriented. It is almost as if a snow globe were shaken and things are disoriented and blurry before it all settles down again. You know this story…the story of the baby who does not sleep like he used to? And the part of the story where the baby gets mad at the whole wide world and is telling everyone all about it in a super loud and frustrated little voice. In new parent class they did not mention this thing. There was no warning at all, we simply landed here one day. There is very little Mom or Dad can do but to hold him super close and love him to pieces.
